The Friends of Eastbourne Hospital’s Major Project for 2025 is to raise £250k to complete a £1 Million Pound donation to the new building at the DGH, the Sussex Surgical Centre.

The Sussex Surgical Centre is an exciting brand new build on the DGH site which will house a state of the art day surgery unit with four operating theatres, and a new endoscopy unit on the upper floor which will make the DGH the biggest provider of this service in East Sussex. This will increase capacity for bowel cancer screening, picking up this type of cancer earlier. This Centre will offer Sussex residents the opportunity for quicker access to treatment in a purpose built environment. The equipment being bought is top of the range, supporting laparoscopic surgery in different specialties, a new microscope for ENT with the latest advanced technology, electric theatre trolleys for easy transfer of patients, and a comprehensive patient information system for monitoring patients postoperatively.

To tell us more about this, and the service Eastbourne will be able to provide, the Major Project Team will be giving a talk at the hospital on Weds 30 April, starting at 7pm. Free to attend, please do just book your place via the Friends Office or by registering your interest here.

The event will last one hour (including a discussion following the talk) and will be held in the Lecture Theatre of the DGH. Parking is free and there is disabled access.
